JFCY is an Ontario-wide legal clinic providing free, confidential legal services to people under 18, and up to 25 in some matters. It represents young people in child welfare and education disputes as well as criminal, housing, and human rights cases, many of which intersect with family violence. Youth experiencing abuse at home can access legal advice about their rights, including leaving home and pursuing protection orders. JFCY has longstanding systemic advocacy work challenging how anti-Black racism shapes child welfare and youth justice outcomes, and is often a critical resource for Black youth whose family violence situations become entangled with CAS.
